October 25, 2010

Inspired by Diana Lupu’s blog, I had to post my own inspiration finds for an autumn wedding.  Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter everywhere else in our beautiful country except for South Florida.  We still have HOT weather down here!  Even though I love the warm weather and believe you me, I am so grateful to live in paradise Miami Beach but when I see pictures like this ones, I can’t help but be a little jealous of the season changes.  Especially in autumn when the leaves change colors and the naked trees become breathtaking sceneries.

Autumn is also related to harvest, which makes it so appropriate to adorn with fruits, vegetables and grains that ripen at this time.  My favorite celebration in this season is Thanksgiving.  It not only unites families and friends but allows us to take the time to look at our life and be thankful for the MANY blessings we have received from above.

I would totally love to do a wedding inspired by this images if I had an autumn theme wedding.  You never know… it can still happen!  Interested… anyone?

10/27/10 – Oh… the growing pains of learning how to blog.  I posted this by mistake before it was completely finished so I had to go in and fix it a little!  🙂

Disney Princess

October 13, 2010

In honor of my Disney princess inspired bride, Jackie, I would like to share with you a little find that shows why a bride would have a vision and of course her dream of having a fairytale inspired wedding.  It has been a dream of hers since she was a very young girl.  Being the only girl in the midst of 4 boys, she knows what it is to be treated as a princess.  And that she is!
I can’t wait for the day when her love story will come to the part where it will read … and they lived happily ever after.
Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo.  The collectionn was inspired by Disney Princess characters: Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Snow White and Tiana.  Now your Disney Princess dream can come true!

Wedding Planning Seminar

October 11, 2010

Beauty in the making is hosting a Wedding Planning Seminar!  You get that?  I am super excited and nervous at the same time!  I am so blessed to partner with Morton’s The Steakhouse to provide a group of fortunate couples with great information on how to plan one of the MOST important days of their lives.

Yes!  Believe it or not, your wedding day is one of the 3 MOST important dates that will mark your life and you generations to come will remember those.  (1)  The day you are born.  (2)  The day you die.  (3)  The day you get married.
It is said that marriages are made in heaven and celebrated on earth.  The popular belief is true to many extend, because it is a special bond shared between two souls, who tie the wedding knot after promising to be companions for a lifetime.  It is the physical, mental and spiritual union of two souls.  It brings significant stability and substance to human relationships, which is otherwise incomplete.  It plays a crucial role in transferring the culture and civilization from one generation to the other, so that the human race is prospered.  The institution of marriage is beneficial to the society as a whole, because it is the foundation of the family, which in turn is the fundamental building block of the society.

The key to a successful marriage is love, understanding, mutual respect, trust, commitment and togetherness.  Happy Monday!

Happy 10/10/10

October 10, 2010

When I was about 12 I looked to this date and thought it that was millions of years away.  As a young girl I knew that life will be different today.  And it is.  Very different from growing up in the Barrio Cotto Mabu in Humacao, Puerto Rico.  I lived very humbly with my parents, my 3 sisters and 2 brothers.  We were a large family but that was common in Puerto Rico back then.  I had dreams and high expectations from life, especially from God.  I knew that He was watching over me and that He had a great future for my life.
The time came, at the age of 16, when I was able to leave my home behind and move to The Big Apple full of dreams and a desire to live life to the fullest.  Even though it seems like no to long ago, so much has happened.  I learned English, learned how to drive, had a boyfriend and broke his heart, went to college, worked as a taxi driver, got married and got divorce, move to Tampa, study computer accounting, dated, had my heart broken, move to South Beach, became a dancer, had my heart broken again, got a beeper, Studied acting, backpacked in Europe, learned how to dance Samba, Met Chayanne, gave my life to Jesus, congregated in Calvary Chapel Miami Beach, worked with some amazing entertainers, got a cellular, got engaged, got my heart broken again, Grew in the knowledge of Christ, worked as a GM presenter traveling through the United States, Travel some more through Europe, went to visit Julie in Japan, fellowship with the people in Calvary Miami and help translating the services into Spanish, visited Israel with my mom, work in sales, served tables and studied Wedding and Event Planning.
Through it all I laughed, cried, loved, not loved, liked, disliked, won, lost, succeeded, felt, hit it right on the nail, made mistakes, was humbled, had pride, dreamed, detoured, was thankful, have been ungrateful, have been loved, have been rejected, was right, was wrong, right, have sinned and am forgiven.
The best part of my journey is the amazing people that have brought so much beauty to my life.  I am still a work in process but I am so thankful for my life and just wanted you to know.  I am not where I thought I would be on 10/10/10 but I am excited to be alive and have and opportunity to celebrate this day and go at it again.  What are you grateful for?
Happy 10/10/10!

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know everything,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary,
because it means you’ve made a difference.

Jerusalem July 2007

The Miami Beach wind was blowing at a speed that will not allow us to sweat.  Lourdes Dos Ramos and I have been working with paper to make our fanciful wedding fun and colorful.  Paper and wind are not a good combination but somehow it all worked together at the end.  Patricia and Carolyn arrived eager to get the shoot going while Talia and Frankie were ready to make it all come to life.  Aren’t they gorge… no I meant striking… what a couple!  Let me just add that Frankie is my cousin, so lucky that good looks runs somewhere in the family!  😉
The flower girl couldn’t be any sweeter and we had such a great blessing when our good friend Gill allowed us to use his fab vintage blue ford!  Here is a sneak peak… more pictures to come, so promises our out of this world photographer.
I got to deeply thank my right hand and best friend Ayo for doing such an amazing… I mean SPECTACULAR job!  You my friend do come trough!  Thank you, thank you THANK you!

Overwhelmed by Him!!!

October 6, 2010

Out of the blue she came to my mind and I called her.  Hello.  She answered.  Hi Candice, is Eileen!  You would not believe it, she replied.  I was just praying for you, for your business, your time, she continued.  See, I remembered how I was so consumed by it all and I don’t want the same to happen to you.  I was just praying you can find balance.  I was touched.  Deeply.  I knew the Almighty God was using her to encourage me.  Earlier that day I was questioning myself.  Am I over my head?  Can I really do this?
I am so excited to have her as a mentor during my journey through the wedding world.  Candice, until a year ago did exactly what I am doing, beautiful weddings for special people.  She has been there and done that. And she is willing to take me under her wings and guide me through it all.
That I would just pop on her beautiful head just when I am not so sure of how I am going to accomplish it all it’s just amazing!  It’s so good to know that He has my back.  He brings the right people in my life at the right time.  In my weakness, He is strong.  So cool that I can trust Him with my eyes closed.  His faithfulness overwhelms me!!!
A rainbow is a proof that God keeps His promises.  I got a double rainbow!  This picture was captured by my friend Claudia from my balcony and put together to the best of my abilities 🙂
Today I am SUPER thankful that the talented Carolyn Jones invited me to work with her designing a beautiful Country shoot with the fabulous photographer Patricia Dash.  A very giving group of people came to my rescue to make things happen… when you are not with me my knees give out.  I am so honored to work with such an amazing group of people… the rest will follow… very soon…  YEEEHAW!!!

I looooove celebrating my birthday!  I don’t know why.  Maybe because as a child, my birthday was not celebrated.  And now as an adult, it’s all up to me, I can do something about it.  So I do.  I celebrate it!  Just like a child.  The child inside of me that refuses to come out.

The focus, yes the focus is all on me!  Celebrating the mark of another year of life is absolutely beautiful and I am blessed to have all this unselfish friends that allow it to be all about me!  An excuse for a self present, maybe a new dress or of course new shoes!  Here comes the cards, wishes, gifts and at times a cruises!  Yes, that’s how the celebration went down last year.. in a cruise with the most amazing women I know.  We partied like rock stars… It was a sight to be seen… we rocked the boat more than a few times!

But this birthday is very different from preceding ones!  This time is not about me.  Believe it or not.  This time is about friendships!  I may lack many things… but in the department of friendships I can honestly say, I am blessed above and beyond what I can ask, think or even imagine.  Let me just say that when God was distributing friends, I must have been the first in line, cause I really got the best pick!

God is so faithful and amazing!  I could not be who I am without you guys.  You mean the world to me!  You guys know me more than anybody.  You are like family.  Thank you for all the years you have supported me and loved me.  Oh… how I love the way you love me through it all.  The good the bad and the ugly!

“Lourdes, thank you for being who you are!  We have been through so much together… you have overlooked so much. You are a true sister.  Claudia, I have no words to express how blessed I am by your friendship!  Thank you for taking up the role of a mother in my life… you know I need that more times that I am willing to admit. My love for you goes deep.  Ayo,  thank you for loving me when I am nice and no so nice.  I love you and love the way you love me.  You are there for me at whatever time, 3, 4, 5 o’clock in the morning.  Girl… you rock my world!  Carolyn, your words of wisdom always arrive at the right timing.  I looovee our conversations about politics and end times.  Thank you for your kindness and gentleness.  I am so proud to call you my friend.  Adri!  Thank you for your love and teaching me how beautiful humility looks… you wear it so strikingly!  We have so much in common, it’s crazy, we were destined to be sisters.  Isha, you are the best roommate a girl can ask for!  Thank you for sharing your life with me and bringing youth and laughter to my life.  I admire you Dr. Kothari!  Kelli, my faithful friend, you know the true meaning of friendship, and you show it… always!  Thank you for receiving me with open arms.  I love you, Mao and Dani.  Individually and together.  Your friendship beautifies my life.  Ivette, I am so blessed you are in my life.  You are a gift from above.  God orchestrated it so perfectly.  Thank you for your partnership and love.  I can’t wait to see what our future holds for us.”  then we raised our mimosas in the name of friendship.

And over tea, cucumber sandwiches, fruits, quiches, biscuits and singing celebrated our friendship making memories to last a lifetime, that of course… involved some dancing.

Here are some of the details we got to enjoy…

Photographed beautifully by Ivette Francolla

Yesterday, I found myself singing I am so excited… and I just can’t hide it… I’m about to lose control and I think I like it”, while dancing on one leg!  Lucky me, I was home alone with my blinds closed and my neighbors did not witness my outburst.  Yes, I sing and dance when I am very excited about something!!!

See, I have a vision and a dream to plan and design breathtaking weddings.  And my favorite ones are outdoors.  Little did I know, there is an AMAZING photographer in my neck of the woods and she is shooting just my type of weddings.  She has developed an incredible eye in such a short time in her career.  I just know, I found someone that speaks my language and understands what it takes to make it happen.  Her willingness to guide me with the experience she has gained is very humbling and overwhelming, my heart is filled with gratitude.

I found myself drooling over this stunning outdoor wedding inspirational shoot she put together with one striking couple and a breathtaking vintage theme.  This is not the typical gorgeous California wedding, but our very own South Florida Summer Garden Wedding and I am so inspired.  I simply can’t wait for the moment where photos like these will represent my work… and when that day comes, you can count on some dancing and out of tune singing involved.  Then, I could care less if my blinds are wide open.

The best thing about living in Florida is the outdoor lifestyle… we have some of the most beautiful sceneries.  Other than the hot summer days, our weather is perfect for any outdoor event and I adore garden weddings, in fact I am hoping that they will be my niche!!!
